Japanese School

Al Rayyan , Doha,Qatar

DESCRIPTION

The Japanese Society in Qatar set up a Preparation Committee in preparation for opening a Japanese school called “Japan School of Doha (JSD)” in April 2009. The JSD is a reborn of the former Japanese School in Doha which was originally founded in 1979 but closed in 2001 due to the dwindled number of the students. To meet the urgent need to improve the educational environment for dramatically increasing Japanese children who reside in the State of Qatar, we are working on establishing an attractive school as a new model of Japanese schools abroad.

The JSD will be a non-profitable private full-time school accredited by the Japanese Government, committed to provide the highest standard of educational excellence through the Japanese program in Japanese language. Governing Board consists of representatives from the Japanese Society, Embassy, School Faculty and parents of students, which governs the school.

Being aware of the initiative of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, we are also ready to commit ourselves to the education, science and community development in the State of Qatar through introducing the Japanese education into the Qatari society in cooperation with the Governments of the State of Qatar and Japan as well as the local communities if necessary resources are available.

In this connection, we propose the “4E For All Initiative” as step-by-step strategic options to open the Japan School of Doha to Qatari and other nationals who seek to be involved in developing their academic capabilities and values through the Japanese education program. In order to ENHANCE the friendship, EXPAND the education, science and community development, ENRICH the internationalism and ENLARGE number of foreign students who study in Japan, the strategic options include Kindergarten, Extracurricular Japanese Language Courses, Extracurricular Supplementary Lesson and Cultural Exchange Activities. To achieve our common goals, we are calling for necessary supports and sponsorship.

The Japanese Society in Doha unanimously decided, in its General Assembly held on April 24, 2008, to establish a Japanese community school called “the Japan School of Doha” in April 2009 to meet the urgent need to improve the educational environment for increasing Japanese children who reside in the State of Qatar.

H. H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar took his initiative and has requested Japanese Government its cooperation to establish a Japan school in Doha which would introduce the Japanese educational methodology into the Qatari society since 1999. During then Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe visited Doha May 2007, he showed the commitment as the leader of the Japanese Government to the direct request by H.H. the Amir.

The Japan School of Doha is a reborn of the former Japanese School in Doha which was originally founded in 1979 but closed in 2001 after having served to the Japanese community for 24 years due to the dwindled number of the students.
