DESCRIPTION

Having commenced its activities in Qatar in the year 2005, HOPE Qatar has become a pioneer in providing Help, Opportunity, Participation and Education to children with special needs.

HOPE Qatar is a private, non-profit training center that provides meaningful and affordable training in a caring atmosphere that focus on bringing out the best in each child.

The dedicated team at HOPE Qatar believes that each child comes with their unique potentials. It is up to us to give them the opportunity to rise and shine so that they are nurtured into valuable members of the community they live in.

The developments and changes that we notice in each child studying under our care is our indicator of success of our approach and our programs.

Through the pages on this website, it is our endeavour to provide you more information about our activities and to enlist your support so that collectively we can do more for these children.

Methodology

HOPE's methodology is pretty simple and straightforward. We strongly believe that one solution does not fit all and therefore our approach is unique a different, specifically tailored to meet the specific requirements of each child under our care. Our focus is on the outcome of our efforts on each child. Broadly grouped, the methodology which primarily focuses on functional academics can be described as:

  • Systematic evaluation of each child
  • Preparation of Individual Education Plans
  • Delivery through a combination of special education and Montessori techniques.
  • Combination of classroom studies and practical training aimed at real life experiences.
  • Maximum class size of 6-7 students in each class to ensure personal attention of the teacher at all times
  • Regular interaction with parents
  • Targets the enhancement of abilities of the children in order to overcome their weaknesses.

HOPE Qatar Center currently accepts only children with mild to moderate intellectual challenges, with manageable behavioral problems.

A systematic and regular evaluation process enables the monitoring of the progress of each child at individual levels and at group levels. Constant feedback by teachers and the team ensure that the parents are updated regularly about the progress of their children and further programs are developed on an ongoing basis in consultation with them and the special educators. This ensures that the development of the child becomes a collective responsibility and that the training continues beyond the classrooms on an ongoing basis.

Resources

At HOPE we strongly believe that information is what determines whether we give the children the appropriate care and support that enables them achieve their full potential.

Very often we see that there is no sufficient information readily available to enable parents take informed decisions about their children's unique requirements.

In our effort to bridge this gap, this resources page has been created to give links to useful information, useful websites, useful forums and groups where you can find additional information about the various challenges faced by our children.

While we encourage you to visit the links and be better informed, we request you to be careful in adapting some of the recommendations on some websites which may not be tested or approved, and could result in worsening the condition of the children.

If you find any other links that may be useful to other parents, do share them with us and we will post them online. To inform us about such useful links, please mail us.

Admissions

HOPE Qatar admits a select number of students each term based on strict admission criteria which has been developed taking into consideration the need to ensure outcome based intervention for children under its care.

Unfortunately we decline admission to those who do not meet our admission criteria, but provide them guidance to other governmental or non governmental organizations that may be in a position to provide them more suitable range of services.

Our admission process also takes into consideration a 1:6 teacher - student ratio in each class so that maximum individual attention is provided to each child.

If you would like to seek admission for your child, please fill in the online application and our admission team will evaluate the details and contact you.
