DESCRIPTION

The Green Park School is a non-profit coeducational institution to be founded and hence, licensed by the Ministry of Education in the State of Qatar. It is entitled to provide quality education to Qatari children to other non-Qatari children residing in Qatar.

The Green Park School is privileged in the following domains:

  • Prestigious academic work in all disciplines in accordance with most up-to-date educational strategies and methodology.
  • Multi ethnic teaching staff composed of local and expatriate, highly qualified and experienced teachers, whose main task is to facilitate learning and to arrange for a productive learning environment, rather than only provide information.
  • Providing for child -centered instruction, where the focus is on advanced learning levels, rather than on recall level per se. Hands-on activities are considered part and parcel of the daily instructional activities.
  • Broad understanding of the importance and efficacy of breading technology at large and of educational technology in the instructional field in particular.
  • Viewing its client children holistically, whereby every single aspect and quality of the individual child is observed and addressed, including those that relate to communicative social skills, public relations, problem-solving skills and creative artistic activities.
  • Fostering positive attitudes in candidates regarding faculties of leadership.
  • Relatively small class size of children to facilitate dealing with individual differences, mixed ability and special needs of disabled children, allowing each and every child to realize his/her maximum potentials.

 

Philosophy of Education

A fundamental cornerstone of the sound philosophy of education prevailing at the Green Park School is the participation and sincere cooperation of the parents. We deeply believe that the School mission and goals would in no way be achieved without utter understanding of the obligations and role of parents which provides support and insights to the School administration and staff. Collaboration between both the school and parents ascertains School vision and helps fulfill its mission.


School Services

The Green Park School is to provide adequate services in the following fields:

1. Guidance:

It is expected that children and perhaps parents are in need for ample information and guidance regarding issues of interest pertaining to School procedures, expected conduct on part of children at school , admission standards and procedures, communication and interaction with School administration and staff, receiving and providing adequate feedback on various issues of interest, …etc; these areas are to be addressed as seen appropriate through a scheduled guidance practice.

2. Counseling:

The Green Park School provides counseling sessions for individual children or for groups of children regarding academic issues, psychological phenomena, attainment…etc. This service is provided for both the children and the staff as seen necessary.

3. Health:

The GPS employs a full time professional nurse residing in the premises. Her duties are to provide School children with the following services:

  • Conduct screening checkups and examinations at the beginning of the year for all the children. This includes measurement of height, weight, sight, hearing, and general health status.
  • Arrange for occasional visits for a qualified physician to check on hygiene matters and to conduct health examination of cases as deemed necessary.
  • Arrange for dental checkups as deemed necessary.
  • Keep record files for all children containing all health information including prescribed and dispensed mediations and health history?
  • Provide medications to needy children at the request of parents at times prescribed by the physician. Medications are kept locked by the nurse out of reach of children and at suitable conditions and temperatures.
  • In case of an emergency or injury, necessary first aid processes shall be conducted by the nurse on the spot. If the case requires further attention, provisions of transfer to an assigned hospital or medical centre are immediately taken and parents are notified.
  • The nurse shall provide relevant information leaflets and training at the beginning of each term on matters related to proper hygiene.
  • The nurse is to address frequently enough, issues related to fostering better awareness of proper nutrition and healthy diet among both the staff members and the children. 

4. Hazards:

 In case of fire alerts or otherwise, the School shall provide ample training programmes on quick and smooth evacuation of the premises in accordance to clear cut procedures. Regular training drills shall be also conducted at suitable intervals.

  • For the safety of all School members, a fire alarm system shall be placed in various parts in the School premises.
  • Enough fire extinguishers shall also be carefully placed in designated areas and ample training drills shall be carried out to the effect of ensuring proper and adequate use of these facilities for the safety of the people and the place.

6. Transportation:

The Green Park School and school provides transportation facilities for all School children. This service is governed according to the following principles:

  • Run an assigned schedule to transport children in the morning from their residences to the School and back in accordance to the School schedule only.
  • In case of any further trips to or from the school, it is then the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation for their children.
  • The transportation facilities shall run in accordance with the governing Qatari traffic legislation regarding licensing of drivers, valid insurance of vehicles etc.
  • All time supervision shall be provided during transportation trips to ensure maximum safety of children.

7. Security:

 An up-to-date security system and procedures shall be installed and run in the Green Park School. The security system shall be assigned to a designated well-trained body. The intention is to secure at all times all School premises, employees and children. Engineering standards are carried out to provide a fence around the building, in addition to lockers for all rooms so that they are only open at the discretion of designated staff members and for academic purposes as deemed necessary.

  • School vehicles and those of the staff members shall carry the valid School patch to be allowed into the inside of the School premises.
  • Visitors to the School are expected to provide identification when asked by School security.
  • Other security measures shall also be considered, namely, installing an alarm system, in addition to providing iron bars for gates, doors and windows in places and offices of sensitive status.

We recognize diversity as a resource of strength and we know that these children come from variety of backgrounds and circumstances different languages: some are immigrants, some are native-speaker of English Arabic therefore to meet the needs of our children the School has a program that provides:

  • Comprehensive English as a Second Language instruction in all language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking, critical thinking.
  • Content area instruction that is academically challenging and integrated with the content curriculum but tailored to the student’s linguistic proficiency, educational background and academic needs.
  • Promotes growth in English language proficiency

Curriculum

Overview

The School follows the Qatari curriculum of the Ministry of education syllabuses for Arabic, & Religion. Non-Muslim Children do not take Religion if they wish.

Green Park School provides a curriculum appropriate for the age and development level of each child. The learning environment fosters all areas of development: intellectual, language, physical and social; and provides the challenge for children to learn according to their individual growth patterns.

Our program aims at:

  • Providing an environment designed for the age group served and implemented with attention to the needs and differences of the individual children
  • Providing themes of interest which integrate and teach all areas of the core curriculum (e.g. language, arts, mathematics, science, social studies)
  • Providing an environment arranged in learning areas (e.g. art area, science area, reading area, dramatic play area). Each area will have a variety of activities for the children. This arrangements allows for a wide range of developmental interests and abilities within the same classroom
  • Providing a balance of classroom activities that are teacher-directed and child-initiated. These activities may be active or quiet, performed individually or in a large or small groups
  • Providing a learning process which is active; one in which children interact with each other and materials while engaging in cooperative hand-on learning with day-to-day life experiences
  • Providing a curriculum that builds up upon what children already know and able to do to enable them to connect new concepts and skills
  • Providing opportunities for exposure to a wide variety of information and literacy experiences and the use of technology through daily activities in the classroom and media area.

Core Curriculum Creative Skills

Creative skills are developed by engaging children in activities with play dough, sand, water, dramatic play, blocks, creative stories, art, music, movement and a variety of other materials.

The student will be encouraged to participate in activities that foster individual creativity:

  • Express thoughts and ideas about work and play
  • Develop and verbalize solutions to simple problems
  • Think of new uses for familiar materials

Admisison Process

Children who wish to register with Green Park School are expected to have a good command of the English language as we follow the National Curriculum of England.

Children from all nationalities and backgrounds are welcome to apply with us, however, priority will be given to children who meet the language requirements as well as siblings.

Initial applications are free, and can be submitted via this website. Alternatively, an application form can be obtained from our school offices. Once the application form is completed and submitted, our Administration Office will get in touch with you to set up an appointment for an entrance assessment.

Primary  children are required to complete a test in English and Mathematics.

If your child is offered a place, the registration procedure can commence. Green Park School requires the following documentation:

• Completed Application Form
• Passport copy of child
• Passport copy of both parents
• Copy of Qatar ID of child and parents
• Child’s Birth Certificate
• Latest school report and school report from the previous year
• Behaviour report (Primary children)
• 6 passport size photographs
