Welcome to GEMS Wellington School, Qatar: the school laying the foundation for a lifelong journey of learning!
Modelled on the distinguished GEMS Wellington International School, Dubai, we opened as the second GEMS Education school in Qatar, offering the academically renowned National Curriculum for England. Our programme has been adapted to suit our students who come from countries around the world and expect a British education that prepares them for their lives as global citizens and innovators.We offer an outstanding education from Foundation Stage to Year 8 and have a fully built school and Ministry of Education license to expand to Year 13 in the coming years.

GEMS Wellington School, Qatar, offers the National Curriculum for England, in an international context.
The National Curriculum for England has been created by educational professionals and designed to develop student competencies in a number of core areas. GEMS Wellington School, Qatar, takes this foundation and builds on it, tailoring its curriculum to its students’ diverse international needs. The integration of the Arabic curriculum adds a rich tier of knowledge to our students’ education.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Age: 3 years old – 5 years old
Our Early Years Foundation Stage education provides new students with a journey of learning, guided by our caring, nurturing and dedicated team of education professionals. As an introduction to school, this programme of learning focuses on self development in partnership with intellectual and physical development.
The curriculum in our Foundation Stage is based on the English Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS), which provides a framework for the education of children from birth to 5 years old. The curriculum is planned holistically to cover the prime areas of learning and these are developed further through the specific areas.

Child initiated learning is at the centre of the curriculum and this enables us to personalise the learning experience to meet the needs of the individual, through adult facilitated play.
The curriculum is designed to enable children to work at their own level and pace.
Keys Stage 1, 2 and 3
Year 1 to Year 9
Age: 5 years old to 13 years old
From Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 3, students develop their intellectual, physical and moral identities, supported by our contextually-developed curriculum. The National Curriculum for England is studied in over 150 countries worldwide and is a curriculum of choice because of its internationally recognised academic structure.
The GEMS Wellington School, Qatar, curriculum has been tailored to the needs of our international students who, in line with GEMS Education's’ core concepts, learn the value of being a global citizens. The influence of our host nation adds a rich Arabic tier to our programme, introducing students to, and developing skills in, the heritage of the region.

In addition to the above National Curriculum for England subjects, we also offer:
Arabic (Arabic A: following the Ministry of Education’s recommended curriculum, for GCC Nationals; Arabic B for non-native Arabic speakers)
Islamic (compulsory for Muslim students; Available in Arabic for Arabic A students or in English for Arabic B students)
Qatari History (integrated into our humanities programmes for English speaking students and will be taught in Arabic for our first language students)
We continuously encourage our students to seek new opportunities of learning and develop new skills and abilities. Each student has their own identity and competencies and, as they reach the higher years of school, they become more aware of themselves, their interests and their strengths, at all times remembering the value of learning.
Year 10 to Year 13
Our school will grow to be a Foundation Stage to Year 13 school in the coming years. Students must have turned the following ages by 30 September in the academic year they wish to enter to enter the respective grade:

Admission-Related Fees
Registration Fee: 3,500 QR (non-refundable, non-transferrable: payable when offered a place)
Assessment Fee: 500 QR (non-refundable, non-transferrable: payable on day of assessment)

Step 5: Check the inbox of the email address provided to find your Enquiry reference number. Do not lose this number.
Step 6: Return to the Enquiry page and complete your admission application.

You have the option to ’Save and Continue Later’ at all times during the process.
Step 7: Once you have completed the entire Enquiry, you will receive another email informing you of the documents you must take to the school registrar to complete the admission application.
Generally, these documents are:
2 photocopies of the following:
Applicant’s passport
Parent’s passport
Applicant’s Qatar Residence Visa
Birth Certificate
Vaccination record/s
In addition to:
2 recent passport sized photographs of the applicant
Report cards from the previous 2 years’ (for admission to Year 1 upwards)
Report card from present nursery setting if available for FS1 & FS2
Reports relating to a student’s additional support requirements, where applicable. This is essential in the registration process to allow the school to establish if it has the capacity to support significant needs.
Step 8: Take these documents, making a note of your Enquiry number, to the registrar at the school, and make the registration fee (3,500 QR) payment.
Step 9: The registrar will call you for an interview and/or assessment.
Step 10: Come to the school at the arranged time for the interview/assessment.
Step 11: If a place has been offered, you will receive a call from the school on the number provided in the Enquiry.
Assessment Test
Assessment tests are conducted by members of our Team and give us an opportunity to see each child’s basic skills and knowledge, their learning behaviours as well as their ability to interact with our team. This is important as we want to ensure that our curriculum can meet each individual child’s needs.
Foundation Stage: Children are invited to a stay and play session where staff will assess the child’s readiness for school.
Year 1: Children complete a basic assessment looking at knowledge of phonics, letters, numbers, shapes along with their writing.
Year 2 upwards: a written English and Mathematics test
Our Team are trained in student development and are aware that each child is different and unique with varying abilities.
