DESCRIPTION

The Edison International Academy is a bilingual, co-educational Academy from KG1 to Year 12 . It offers an academically rigorous programme which, while remaining firmly rooted in the Arab heritage and culture, aspires to meet the highest international standards. The Edison International Academy welcomes students of all nationalities and backgrounds whose academic aptitude is suited to the education it offers. The Academy promotes an appreciation of the students’ own as well as other cultures and faiths, thereby enhancing tolerance and mutual respect. Within its practices, the Academy models and fosters ethical behaviour and a sense of justice, equality and individual worth.

The Academy provides a stimulating learning environment with emphasis on learning as a skill and encourages the positive involvement of all its stakeholders. Students engage in intellectual, aesthetic, creative and physical activities to enable them to grow as responsible individuals towards themselves, the society and the environment. They are encouraged to become involved in service to the local and wider global community and to develop an informed awareness of national and international issues.

Through its programs, The Edison International Academy believes it equips its students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values they need in order to assume future roles of responsibility in all walks of life.

School Admission

School Admission Policy

For Admission in EIA the following documents should be provided:

1. All eligible Academy aged children are able to enroll with EIA and receive education assistance.

2. The EIA reserves the right to carry out an assessment of any child prior to accepting them for admission.

3. Children seeking admission below Year 5 will not be refused admittance on the basis of English language proficiency.

4. Children seeking admission to the EIA need to satisfy the level of English language proficiency for the Year group to which they are seeking admission.

5. Children with special educational needs or physical disabilities can be admitted to the EIA, if the parents are able to provide the necessary support fees to meet their needs.

6. Children who register with the EIA then later withdraw to attend another Academy in Qatar, do not have automatic right of re-entry nor to refund back the fees paid. Their application will be based on space availability and admission assessment. If space is limited, priority will be given to children who are already on a waiting list and have paid the fees.

7. Late enrolments, i.e. where parents have failed to register their children before the 30th Sep, will be considered on a space availability basis with the exception.

8. EIA offers a British-based curriculum and lessons (apart from Arabic) are delivered in English. In order to access the curriculum pupils must have:

Parents must agree to EIA policies and procedures under which the school operates e.g. need to participate in areas of the British curriculum.

9. Parents  will work in partnership with the Academy to support their child’s learning.

English a s a first language, or adequate proficiency for their age in speaking, reading and writing.

Previous experience of a British style curriculum and education.

10. EIA experiences a high number of applications and we welcome, in particular, applications from:

Parents with children already in the area

Parents who are members of staff

11. In the event that there are insufficient places available, EIA operates a waiting list system which, in addition to the criteria above, is administered chronologically.

12. Places will only be offered following successful completion of an Entrance Assessment test and, if required, an assessment interview.

13. Places will only be confirmed once the fees due have been settled.

Papers Needed

Admission to the Academy is selective and is based on
Completed Application Form.
 Photocopies of the report cards of the last two years.
 Transfer certificate duly attested by Directorate of Education      for student’s approval.
 Photocopy of birth certificate , Father / Mother  ID
 Previous Academy records,
 Academic testing,
 Personal interview with the applicant and his/her family and availability of places.
