I welcome you to the American Academy School in Qatar. Our Vision

The school is currently open to grade levels Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12. We have created a co-educational School for grades K-12 with special focus on developing the individual gifts of the students and encouraging their talents from a young age. Ind doing so, we hope to foster their academic excellence, build effective skills in the use of technology and communication and develop their thinking and choice making skills for life in a warm, creative and academically unique environment.

Curriculum

Brief Curriculum Summary

  • The curriculum being applied in the school from Grades 1 to 6 is the common core curriculum approved and applied in the United States of America.  The curriculum being applied for Grades 7 to 12 is the American curriculum and is applied in many different schools in the United States of America.
  • Grade 12 exam papers are prepared in the school by correspondent subject teachers, and according to the applied American curricula.
  • All school examinations process occurs in the school including exam preparations and corrections under the supervision of correspondent Head of Departments.
  • The school communicated with the AdvancED establishment which is specialized in granting the American accreditation.  A representative from this establishment had made two visits to our school this year, and agreed on making more visits in the near future as we move to our new school building. 
  • College exams including SAT, IELTS, TOFEL, ICDL, and others are international assessments where students from different countries complete an online registration procedure, and do the tests at accredited test centers.
  • More than 90% of students from the high school department write the SAT exam since it is one of the requirements for most universities and colleges.
  • Our school participated in the international exams supervised by the Ministry of Education including PISA, PIRLS and TIMSS.

In addition to what is mentioned above, we would like to clarify the following:

  • Our school is operating efficiently since year 2000, and had a total of 331 students that have completed Grade 12 and graduated from the school with a diploma.
  • 95% of our graduated students joined Arabian, American, European universities and colleges, and majored in different fields.
  • The American Academy School diploma granted to the Grade 12 students is equivalent to General Secondary Certificates granted by the Ministry of Education to the students who graduated from government schools.  With this approval, our students can apply to any university or college in different countries.
