SEK International School Qatar is located at the prominent West Bay, Al Farouq Street in Doha, Qatar. Our aim at SEK International Schools is to provide a high quality international education through the development of our students’ abilities to the highest level of their potential. Established in 1892, SEK International Schools are places where innovation and pedagogical leadership are combined with 120 years of tradition and history to offer educational programmes unlike any others.

SEK International Schools offer education to more than 6,000 day and boarding students of more than 50 nationalities, from ages 3 to 18, in their campuses of Madrid, Barcelona, Almeria, Pontevedra, Dublin (Ireland), Les Alpes (France) and Doha (Qatar) (opening in September 2013).

SEK International School Qatar is proud to be part of the SEK International Schools group, and a member of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Outstanding Schools Programme.

During Academic Year 2014 – 2015 we became an IB World School, authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme, and in March and April 2016 we achieved authorization to offer the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes respectively. We are pleased to be opening Grade 11 in 2016 – 2017.

We collaborate with the 8 other SEK International schools, the Camilo José Cela University in Madrid and the Supreme Education Council in Qatar to nurture our students to become truly global citizens, solidly rooted in their own individual cultures.

SEK-Qatar offers education in English with access to study Spanish and Arabic as additional languages. A truly International school, there are 45 nationalities represented among its students.

Our Parents are partners in the life of the school and participate in our varied school celebrations for Qatar National Day, Sports Day, International Day, Book Fair, Fine Arts night and Graduation presentations. We hold parent coffee mornings, curriculum workshops and parents are invited to attend student led assemblies and learning conferences.

At SEK-Qatar students are encouraged to grow in a dynamic learning environment where students and staff are challenged to achieve their highest potential.  We have a strong commitment to ensure innovative education for our students alongside rigorous training and monitoring for our staff.

We run a successful Professional Development Centre for our staff and invite other professionals from the Ministry and Schools within Doha and beyond, to attend training on pedagogical approaches, concept driven curriculum and subject specialism to enhance enquiry based learning.

CURRICULUM

PYP curriculum*

Students in the 21st century are faced with the challenge of learning about an interconnected world where knowledge is constantly developing. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme prepares students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. SEK International School Qatar is a candidate PYP school.

Admission

Papers Required

1- Two passport photographs
2- A copy of the child’s school report of the last two years, which must contain
appropriate assessment information and reference to the level/grade in which the
student is placed and the age structure the school applies. When the documents
are not in English, a notarized translation in English must be provided.
3- A copy of the child’s passport, resident permit (when available), birth certificate
and childhood immunization records
4- A copy of the parent’s passports and resident permits;
5- A copy of any assessments relating to Additional Educational Support Needs (e.g. Educational Psychologist reports, Speech and Language Therapy), if applicable. 

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Beginning after the break for Eid Al-Adha (13 to 17 October), SEK International School Qatar will offer a complete range of extracurricular activities, as part of its holistic approach to the intellectual, social and physical development of students.
Currently, our staff is preparing an attractive variety of options which we want to tailor to the particular needs and interests of our school community once our inaugural school year has started.
The school will consult with and inform families regarding the extracurricular programme.

SPORTS FACILITIES

Sports are an essential aspect of the educational model at SEK International Schools.
SEK International School Qatar sports facilities includes a multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall where our students can practice football, basketball and volleyball amongst other activities, as well as outdoor football, basketball and volleyball courts.
